More "Teddy Beans"

I loved the "teddy beans" I made for my son so much, I made another for my niece. "Teddy beans" are basically a bean bag chair, but instead of filling it with styrofoam pellets, you use your childs stuffed animals. I loved how this one turned out. For detailed instructions on how to make, see my previous post on January 26th.

A Valentine Treat

So easy. Take a cake mix for a 2-layer cake, bake one layer in a square pan, the other in a round. Cut the round layer in half to make the heart shape, then frost.

A touch of love

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. I'm not one that decorates much for this holiday, but small touches here and there can make a big impact.

This simple garland was made from construction paper and ribbon. I cut out the hearts in two sizes and strung them through a sparkly ribbon.

"Teddy Beans"

We love our stuffed animals, but hate the space they take up. I wanted to figure out a way to keep them contained. I had seen organizing options like hammocks, but for my toddler, those kept them out of his reach and therefore unable to be played with. So, I designed my own.

The concept is simple. Its a bean bag chair, without the beans. Instead, you fill it with stuffed animals. Your teddy bears are the "beans".

I'm am not a seamstress at all, and I was able to do this. I chose a simple bean bag chair pattern; Simplicity #5105.

New year, new paint

Happy New Year. Its 2014!!! Out with the old, in with the new, so they say. The Kays' house is no exception. I have been busy.

Our dining room needed a new look. I had a bland cream color on the walls and the molding was white. I have decorative molding in the dining room, but because of the muted colors, you couldn't even see it. It was time for a change.

Ideas for discarded Christmas Tree branches

Don't throw away the branches cut off of the bottom of your Christmas tree, use them as extra greenery in your home. If you are like us, and still have the branches sitting in the garage, bring them out!! Here are a few ideas I'd like to share on how I used mine this year to "spruce up" my home this holiday season.

I arranged two branches in a simple vase. Then dressed it up with a sparkly ribbon I had and a matching ornament. You could also use some spray "frost" on the tips of the branches to add the illusion of snow, if you choose.
